We were pleased to welcome back Barry Herniman (aka ‘Herr Flick’) +to SWAS on Tuesday evening. It was Barry’s first visit for seven years and he gave us a splendid demonstration of how he achieves his textures with his renowned ‘flicks’. He also showed us how the Schminke Horadam gouache that he uses could be used similarly to watercolour, but without losing the opacity of the gouache, so they could be used in painting light over dark - unlike watercolour. His subject was the Samaria Gorge in Crete. A great evening - thank you, Barry.
