Critique by Philip Watkin

23 April 2019

As usual Phil didn't disappoint! With upwards of 20 submissions the members were entertained with anecdotes, he shared his in depth knowledge of art and art history and gave each artist a full and fair critique. On a personal note his comments have helped my painting…..although I'm sticking with my warm, brown(ish) tree trunks…… and I feel it's a better painting for acting on his advice. At the end of the evening Phil chose his top two. First was a still life painted by David Kirkham.. which he said was reminiscent of a Georgia O'Keefe cityscape, and secondly, a tranquil landscape by Anita Raymond. Congratulations both, and thank you Phil for a fabulous evening.
