If you’ve not been to view the Sistine Chapel or would like a reminder of what it looks like you can now take a virtual tour of all the paintings, ceiling and wall decorations and floor designs.

Here is an amazing bit of technology apparently produced by Villanova at the request of the Vatican. View the work of Michael Angelo close up as if you were the only person in the Chapel.

Use the keyboard arrows to move around the building ; the + or – symbols to focus in or out to see the detail.

Or click and drag your cursor in the direction you wish to see.

Wallsworth Hall report

The wet weather didn’t deter the small group of SWAS members that visited Wallsworth Hall,a fine Georgian mansion  in Gloucestershire. The stately home is now a museum totally dedicated  to and inspired by Nature .  Paintings and artefacts by several artists (see list below ) using oils, acrylics, ceramics & wood and stellar photography can be viewed in the house; while numerous large metal animals and insects can be seen at close quarters appearing through the meadow- type high grass in the grounds.  Also in residence was a wood-shaping artist, Philip Nelson, making life-size models of ducks.  We were shown the painstaking creation of individual feather shapes using electronic knives.

A very reasonable lunch and coffee shop catered for meals; and for those with small children there was a small playroom.

ARTISTS on display:–

David Owen – Modern marquetry

Jill Confavreux -  combining Painting and Collage

Robert Cox – Wooden Sculptures of Nature

Tim Craven – Painting exploring natural patterns and detail

Jun Takegoshi – Porcelain

” Orion Cavern”  -  Photography of Stellar dust cloud images in colour.

Metalwork :—-

Miranda Michels – Stainless Steel ( see Heron Image above)

David Howarth  -  Pond sculpture ( see Image below )
